Be still my beating heart, ya’ll.
It’s such a surreal moment when I get to photograph a newborn from a recent birth photography session. In this case, I got to spend time with Gideon and his family, one week after he was welcomed into the world.
For this session, mom and dad requested both newborn and lifestyle sessions to document their growing family. I could not have been more blessed to deliver both (because I mean, seriously, how could I NOT be itching to do both?!?).

Baby Gideon was such a joy to work with. His mom, Lauren, did a fantastic job of keeping him well-fed and sleepy during his big photoshoot – and she did much better than I ever could at balancing the other family members at the same time!

One of the most perfect parts of a newborn baby, to me, are those beautiful baby feet and toes. Little detail shots of this precious moment in time are essential to each and every newborn session, professional or not. They don’t stay little like this for long, so photograph it while you still can.

Lauren’s daughter, Alena, was filled to the brim with love for her new baby brother. Lauren enjoyed looking on as her other children took turns giving Gideon loving kisses throughout our session together. Alena, in particular, was obsessed with loving on her youngest brother.

Lauren was incredibly hands-on when it came to helping me wrangle the kiddos into position for these beautiful shots. All throughout, Gideon’s older siblings were eager for their turn to cuddle up with their baby brother.

Sisters Alena and Evie were the most eager to take advantage of their time in front of the camera – Evie made a point to show off her stellar winking skills while Alena held her close. Alena’s sweet disposition was definitely in contrast to Evie’s silliness when it came to posing for their shots together!

David was excited for his own portrait to be taken – it didn’t take much coaxing for his own time in front of the lens! It was hard not to get distracted by those gorgeous big, brown eyes – especially during all the hours in editing!

This family is so incredibly beautiful, inside and out, that it almost broke my heart to wrap up their session and leave! Each family member was so incredibly sweet – I wish them the happiest of baby-moons as they soak in the love of their new addition in their beautiful home.
